About http-Tester

http-Tester is a tool which allows you to test the HTTP response of an internet location to any HTTP request. For that, the HTTP request can be set up manually in any variation. I made this tool for finding out the behaviour of foreign servlets to ensure that the communication is stable.

Type in the URL you want to test. Select a HTTP verb, which is one of GET, POST, HEAD, PUT, DELETE, TRACE, OPTIONS. Set up manually the HTTP header that your request should contain. Some typical examples are selectable from the combobox. Then, put or type in a string that the HTTP body should consist of (into the Post This Text field), or hit the Browse Files button to select one (or more) files from a local path that should be sent in the body. Typically, the body is used to send up some data with POST method. Most of the typical HTTP requests have an empty body. Then, hit Return or push the Send Request button. The tool always uses the default internet connection configured in the system. If the internet locations answers, then the header and body of the response are displayed in detail. If there is a redirection to some other URL, then the Follow Redirection button becomes active. You can strip out the HTML tags of the response body which leaves the text that would be readable in a browser.
